A father of six, Morrie Tobin lives with his family in Los Angeles. He stays healthy by watching his nutrition carefully and swimming an hour every day. A seasoned veteran of the financial and investing industries, Morrie Tobin has excelled in his professional life as well, and currently invests in emerging small cap companies in Canada and the United States.
One of Morrie Tobin’s earliest positions in the financial industry was vice president at CIBC World Markets, where he pioneered the development of Canada’s mortgage-backed securities market. While at CIBC in Toronto, he spearheaded the evolution of mortgage-backed securities from retail products to institutional.
More recently, Morrie Tobin has worked with investment partners to identify and finance emerging growth enterprises in the small cap market and nurture them to the point of being able to go public. In the last 15 years, he and his partners have financed more than $200 million this way. He also has an entrepreneurial side. Early in his career, in the early 1990s, he co-founded Wok Fast Chinese Food when he lived in Los Angeles, where he also developed an affinity for long drives down the California coast and watching Los Angeles Lakers basketball.
